The presumptive finding. Every property enters the audit presumed not haunted, and the determination is issued when the record, after review, sustains that presumption.
Property Haunting Certification
A formal investigation into whether a property is haunted, drawing upon its documentary history and evidence gathered during an invigilated examination of the site.
Verification
Certifications can be verified through the registry.
The Society’s certification program applies the methods of Historically Informed Ghost Hunting to the examination of hotels, inns, historic properties, private residences, and other qualifying sites. An audit is commissioned without prejudice to its outcome.
Visitors, guests, and other interested parties may consult the registry to confirm a property’s current certification status.

Haunted
Issued only when a coherent pattern of evidence survives ordinary explanation and secondary review. The Society expects this determination to be rare.
The issued credential
A formal certificate issued for display on-site and online.
Every qualifying audit concludes with a written findings report, an archival paper certificate, an individual registry number, and an entry in the Society’s public registry. A plaque in wood and brass may be commissioned after the finding is issued.

We begin reviewing submissions upon receipt and will contact you if we have any questions; most applicants hear from us within 48 hours.
